Visiting The Area
Stocksbridge is a small town on the outskirts of Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District. Surrounded by open countryside it is the perfect base for walking, road cycling, and mountain biking. The town is within easy access to the M1, Woodhead Pass, Sheffield city center, and Barnsley.
Walking
There are many great walks right from the doorstep, with Moorhall, Broomhead, and Underbank reservoirs within a 5-minute drive. You can also go further a field end explore the Peak National Park.

Cycling
Whether you want to follow the route of the Tour de France. Have a family ride along the trans-Pennine trail. Go offroad and explore the peaks or hit the famous downhill trails in ‘Greno’ and Wharncliffe woods there is something for everyone. As keen cyclists ourselves we will be happy to give you advice on the best places to go. There are 2 well-stocked bike shops in Stocksbridge to keep you on two wheels.
Climbing
Wharncliffe Crags, is on our doorstep and is a popular spot for rock climbing and bouldering enthusiasts. The crags boast a variety of climbs, ranging from easy to extremely challenging, and serve as a training ground for many climbers in the region. The gritstone rocks provide steep walls and awkward off-width cracks that challenge even the most experienced climber. Bouldering aficionados will find themselves in paradise with the numerous problems available, from short and powerful to longer, endurance-focused routes. The stunning views of the surrounding countryside from the top of the crag offer a satisfying reward for the climb up.
Fox Valley shopping centre
Within walking distance of The Friendship Hotel Fox Valley is a unique town centre shopping destination in north Sheffield.
With a great line up of stores, restaurants and coffee shops, Fox Valley also has a free four hour car park with 600 spaces.
Local amenities
Stocksbridge town centre offers a wide range of amenities including a Co-op and Lidl supermarket. An Indian restaurant and a wide range of takeaways.
